2024 MASCAC Football News

A total of 1,610 student-athletes have been honored by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference with selection to the league’s Fall/Winter 2024 All-Academic team that was released earlier today by Commissioner Angela Baumann.

D3football.com has announced their 2024 All-America Team selections and UMass Dartmouth student-athlete Angel Sanchez was recognized. The senior wide receiver was named to the Second Team Offense All-America Team.

11 MASCAC student-athletes have been named to the d3football.com All-Region teams for region one as announced by the organization yesterday.

60 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) student-athletes have been recognized for their outstanding sportsmanship as members of the 2024 Fall Sportsmanship Team.

The J-Club has announced the 2024 Gagliardi Trophy – Presented by Stearns Bank 18 semifinalists and UMass Dartmouth graduate student quarterback Dante Aviles-Santos has been recognized. The award, presented to the most outstanding NCAA Division III football player, recognizes excellence in athletics, academics and community service.

The New England Football Writers Association (NEFWA) has selected UMass Dartmouth graduate student quarterback Dante Aviles-Santos as the 2024 Harry Agganis/Harold Zimman Award winner, which is presented to the most outstanding player in New England across all divisions. It marks the second honor of the season for Aviles-Santos from the NEFWA, earning DII/DIII All-New England Team recognition for the second time in his career last week.

John Giller and Anthony Weidtman of WestConn along with Shane Meerbott of UMass Dartmouth take home the final MASCAC Football Offensive, Special Teams and Defensive Player of the Week honors of the year.

After the end of the fall regular season, Westfield State has the lead in the 2024-25 Howard C. Smith Cup standings. The Smith Cup is awarded annually to the member institution which compiles the most points based on the placement of each of its programs competing in the league championship sports.

UMass Dartmouth’s Dante Aviles-Santos and Fitchburg State’s Cameron Monette are the 2024 MASCAC Football Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year and headline the 2024 MASCAC All-Conference teams as voted on by the coaches from around the league.

After the conclusion of the regular season Saturday, Kevin Brown of UMass Dartmouth, Mileeq Green of WestConn, Shane Drake of Bridgewater State and Eric Lovell of Westfield State claim the MASCAC Football weekly awards.

Jael Cabrera of UMass Dartmouth, TJ Jones of Mass. Maritime and Elijah Zaire McKnight of Fitchburg State and Zy'kie Askwe of Bridgewater State grab the MASCAC Football Offensive, Defensive, Special Teams and Rookie of the Week honors.

Willie Lombard of Plymouth State, Dante Aviles-Santos and Jonathan Brightman of UMass Dartmouth, Manuel Freitas of Worcester State and Jeremiah Julmiste of Bridgewater State claim MASCAC Football weekly accolades.

Kamryn Holmes of WestConn, Shane Meerbott of UMass Dartmouth, Jonah Bassett Jr. of Plymouth State and Dexter Brown of Fitchburg State grab the MASCAC Football weekly awards.

Dante Aviles-Santos of UMass Dartmouth, Carl Renaudin of Framingham State, Jonah Bassett Jr. of Plymouth State and Logan Tsika of Mass. Maritime grab the MASCAC Football Offensive, Defensive, Special Teams and Rookie of the Week accolades.
