Mass. Maritime's Mulligan Named 2023-24 D3CA Chi Alpha Sigma Region One Men's Sport Student-Athlete of the Year
After an outstanding career as a student and athlete for Mass. Maritime, Jack Mulligan was named the 2023-24 D3CA/Chi Alpha Sigma Region One Men's Sport Student-Athlete of the Year as announced by the organizations today.
After an outstanding career as a student and athlete for Mass. Maritime, Jack Mulligan was named the 2023-24 D3CA/Chi Alpha Sigma Region One Men's Sport Student-Athlete of the Year as announced by the organizations today.
Chi Alpha Sigma, a valued partner of the D3CA, is in its inaugural year as presenting sponsor of the regional awards.
Mulligan, a senior from Billerica, Mass., was an award winning member of the Buccaneers football team as he was named the second team All-Conference punter in both 2022 and 2023. During his time with the squad, he was a dual purpose player as both a punter and linebacker. During the his punting career, he registered 3,295 yards on 82 punts (40.2 yards averaged) with a long of 66 yards, 29 inside the 10, 13 fair catches and five touchbacks. On the defensive side, he finished with 64 tackles, including 34 solo, a sack, 6.5 tackles for a loss and an interception with a 15 yard return.
Academically, Mulligan recently completed his degree in emergency management with a 3.904 GPA. He was named to the Mass. Maritime President's list (3.6 GPA or better) every semester and all four years, he earned a spot on the MASCAC All-Academic team and was named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District in 2022.
As part of the regiment at Mass. Maritime, Mulligan served as the 4th Company Commander - 2024 (Top Cadet in Charge of a staff of 20+ senior and junior cadets and 200+ cadets), Emergency Management Operations Officer - 2024 (campus leadership position assists with coordinating experiential learning liaising with Department Head and representing the major at open houses ).
He also did an internship with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) (2022), an internship with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) (2022), and internship with EAGLESHARK Security Consulting in Denmark (2023) while working as a Home Depot Cashier (2023 - present).
Now that his time at Mass. Maritime has come to an end, Mulligan plans to attend law school and a potential career in federal law enforcement.
