19 student-athletes and three teams earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic honors as announced by the organization.
34 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) student-athletes have been honored for their outstanding sportsmanship as members of the 2024 Spring Sportsmanship Teams.
The Cortland women's lacrosse team went on a five-goal run spanning the second and third quarters to erase a one-goal deficit and went on to defeat Westfield St., 13-9, Saturday afternoon in the first round of the NCAA Div. III playoffs hosted by Tufts University. With the win, the Red Dragons won their 13th consecutive game, improving to 15-4 on the season, and face the host Jumbos in the second round, Sunday at 1 p.m.
Framingham State attack Hannah Guerin and Westfield State defender Victoria Paine are the 2024 MASCAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year and headline the All-Conference teams which are voted on by the coaches from around the league.
After leading the Owls to the MASCAC Tournament title, Megan Bailey and Kara Banagan of Westfield State take home the MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week while Madigan Kelley of Worcester State earns Rookie of the Week honors.
Westfield State's Emma Prattson and Kylie Buchanan each scored three goals and goalie Kara Banagan made 12 saves as #2 seed Owls defeated #1 Framingham State, 11-6 in the 2024 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference championship game at Maple Street Field in Framingham on Saturday night.
