After winning their first conference games of the season, Caezar Williams and Ian DeTulleo of Vermont State-Castleton and Zach Allen and Andrew Currier of Westfield State earn the MASCAC Offensive, Special Teams, Defensive and Rookie of the Week awards.
Offensive Player of the Week |
Williams had a career day on offense, racking up eight catches for 174 yards and three touchdowns in the Spartans’ 32-13 win over Framingham State. Scored on catches of 21 yards, 45 yards and seven yards, and reeled in a 52-yard completion that pushed Castleton deep into Framingham territory in the first quarter on 3rd-and-9, leading to his first touchdown of the day three plays later on a 4th-down play. He amassed more than 200 all-purpose yards on the day, adding in 30-plus yards in the return game for Castleton. |
Defensive Player of the Week |
Allen made a fourth quarter interception to set up the Owls’ game-winning drive in the 24-17 come-from-behind win over Bridgewater State. Also finished with three tackles and a pass break up in the win. |
Special Teams Player of the Week |
DeTulleo had a great day for the Spartans in a 32-13 win to open the MASCAC slate, blocking a kick and returning it for a two-point conversion. Blocked the PAT on the first touchdown of the game, swinging momentum back to the Spartans after Framingham struck first. After the block, he scooped the ball and ran it down the sideline 97 yards for the two-point conversion. On defense, he also had a second-half interception that gave Castleton the ball in plus territory. |
Rookie of the Week |
Currier chipped in with an extra point, a 25-yard field goal, and punted twice for 93 yards and a 46.5 yard average. One of his punts was a 56 yarder, another was mishandled leading to an Owls recovery, and one of his kickoffs was mishandled leading to Bridgewater starting at their own 5-yard line in the Owls’ 24-17, come-from-behind win over Bridgewater State.
