Jael Cabrera of UMass Dartmouth, TJ Jones of Mass. Maritime and Elijah Zaire McKnight of Fitchburg State and Zy'kie Askwe of Bridgewater State grab the MASCAC Football Offensive, Defensive, Special Teams and Rookie of the Week honors.

Cabrera had an outstanding effort for the Corsairs, leading all receivers in the game as UMass Dartmouth won 56-14 to clinch their third straight MASCAC title. Hauling in six catches, Cabrera amassed 110 yards and two touchdowns on the afternoon in only one half of action. He opened the game’s scoring, catching a 45-yard bomb to give UMassD the 7-0 lead. His other score also came in the opening quarter, putting the Corsairs up 14-7 with a 29-yard catch. It marks his third 100-yard receiving game of 2024 and his second straight. |
Defensive Player of the Week
TJ Jones, Mass. Maritime
Junior, Defensive Back, Duxbury, Mass.
Jones returned an interception 59 yards for a touchdown, had four total tackles
and half a tackle for loss in the Buccaneers’ 34-7 win over Worcester State on
Saturday afternoon.
Special Teams Player of the Week |
McKnight returned a punt for a 78-yard touchdown to give the Falcons the lead, while adding one kick return for 22 yards in the Falcons’ 26-21 setback to the Panthers of Plymouth State on Saturday. |
Rookie of the Week |
Askew rushed for 78 yards on 19 carries and added two receptions for 15 yards in the Bears’ 31-20 MASCAC win on the road over VTSU Castleton. |
