Framingham State’s Szymanski Named 2022 MASCAC Offensive Volleyball Player of the Year, Worcester State’s Burgio MASCAC Defensive Player of the Year and Headline the 2022 MASCAC Volleyball All-Conference Team

Westfield, Mass. — Anna Szymanski of Framingham State and Camryn Burgio of Worcester State take the 2022 MASCAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year honors. The duo headlines the 2022 All-Conference team which is selected by the eight coaches from around the conference.
Szymanski, a junior outside hitter from Harwinton, Conn., earned MASCAC Offensive Player of the Year and her first All-Conference honors after helping the Rams to a 6-1 conference record, a share of the regular season title and the top spot in the MASCAC Tournament. She closed out the year in the top two of the league in kills and kills per set at 350 and 3.30, respectively. She also collected 287 digs, 13 total blocks and 18 aces. In the win over Westfield State, she finished with a season-high 23 kills and 20 digs.
Outside hitter Camryn Burgio of Worcester State is the MASCAC Defensive Player of the Year award winner. The senior from Quincy, Mass. led the MASCAC in total digs with 476 while finishing second in the league in digs per set at 4.29. She also tallied 167 kills, 44 assists, 41 aces and 23 blocks this season. During the match with Salem State, she had a season-best 34 digs along with two kills and two assists.
Claiming the 2022 MASCAC Rookie of the Year honors is Stephanie Sardella of Fitchburg State. The freshman from Billerica, Mass. in her first season with the Falcons registered 171 kills (2.41 per set), 239 digs, 35 aces and 12 total blocks. She finished with a career-high of 19 kills with 27 digs in the win over Salem State which helped them earn a spot in the MASCAC Tournament. She is the first Falcon to ever receive the Rookie of the Year accolade.
For the fifth time since 2011, Richard Casali of Framingham State has been voted the BSN Sports Volleyball Coach of the Year after leading the Rams to a share of the MASCAC Regular Season title and the top seed in the MASCAC Tournament.
Joining Szymanski and Burgio on the All-Conference First Team are Hailey Sanders of Framingham State, Chloie Garber of MCLA, Ashley Crowley and Shawna Crowley of Westfield State and Angela Colonis of Worcester State.
Earning a spot on the MASCAC Second Team All-Conference with Sardella are Victoria Caiano of Bridgewater State, Stella Bailey of Framingham State, Elizabeth Brown and Ellie Walter-Goodspeed of MCLA, Bridgette McAndrews of Westfield State and Maeve Cadogan of Worcester State.
