Westfield State Wins 2013 MASCAC Volleyball Championship
The Westfield State Owls are the 2013 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball champions after beating Framingham State, 3-0.

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The Westfield State Owls are the 2013 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball champions after beating Framingham State, 3-0.
Claiming the conference title and going a perfect 6-0 in conference play to nab the regular season crown as well, the Owls won their semifinal earlier in the day against Worcester State in a tough match, 3-2. Framingham State found themselves in the championship match again after knocking off Bridgewater State, 3-0, in the second semifinal.
On the back of the 2013 MASCAC Player of the Year Julia Warner, Westfield State punched their ticket to the NCAA tournament with a 25-21, 25-20, 25-16 victory. Warner finished with 12 kills while teammate Lindsay Rescott added 10 of her own. MASCAC Rookie of the Year Framingham State's Alycia Rackliffe had 12 kills in the loss.
The day started off with the first semifinal round when the top-seeded Owls faced off with fourth-seeded Worcester State. Westfield State opened the match with a 25-20 first set win, but Worcester State fought back to take the next two, 28-26, 25-23.
Coming back to force a fifth set, the Owls would take the fourth and fifth sets from the Lancers to punch their ticket into the championship game, 25-19, 15-11.
In the second semifinal, second-seeded Framingham State Rams matched up with third-seeded Bridgewater State Bears. The Rams easily took the first set, 25-16. The Bears fought back in the second, but it wasn't enough and Framingham State went up 2-0.
Getting themselves back to the title game for the second straight year were the Rams who took the third and final set over the Bears 25-14.
