Bridgewater State Tabbed Number One Seed in 2023 MASCAC Women's Soccer Tournament
After going 7-0 in conference play, the Bridgewater State Bears are tabbed the number one seed in this week's 2023 MASCAC Women's Soccer Tournament which begins on Tuesday.

The quarterfinals kick off the tournament Tuesday, October 31 with #4 Salem State hosting #5 Fitchburg State at 2 pm while #3 Worcester State entertains #6 Mass. Maritime at 4 pm. #2 Westfield State hosts the highest remaining seed at 12 pm Friday, Nov. 3 in the semifinals while top seed Bridgewater State takes on the lowest remaining seed at 7 pm.
The two semifinal winners will then meet at the highest remaining seed Sunday, Nov. 5 for the MASCAC crown and the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
The Bears earned the top seed by going undefeated in league play and were lead by Sydney Dewhurst. She ended the regular season third in the conference in goals (nine), assists (six) and points (24) while having the league-leading number of game-winning goals with four over her 16 starts.
Grabbing the second seed and other first round bye is Westfield State. The Owls finished the MASCAC slate with a 6-1 record. Delaney Parker led the conference at the conclusion of regular season action in goals with 15, assists with 10 and points with 40. She also took 98 shots while registering two or more goals four times this season.
Hosting a quarterfinal matchup is Worcester State with the third seed. The Lancers were 5-2 in the conference this season. Erin Condon led the team with 15 points on four goals and seven assists which are the second most in the league. She also guided the team to two wins with game-winning goals.
Salem State is the other quarterfinal host with the fourth seed. The Vikings had three MASCAC victories this season. In goal, Lily Pfefferle registered a 3.14 GAA, .813 save percentage, 191 saves, and three wins with two of them as shutouts.
The tournament field is rounded out with Fitchburg State and Mass. Maritime in the fifth and sixth seed. Rookie goalkeeper Madison Dawkins is in the top 10 of the MASCAC after making 96 saves, .835 save percentage, 2.19 GAA with two wins and a tie. For the Buccaneers who are making their first-ever appareance in the conference tournament, Ayla Santoro led the squad with four goals and an assist for nine points with a .423 shot on goal percentage.
At the 2022 MASCAC Women's Soccer Tournament Championship game, top seed Westfield State earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament along with the league crown after defeating Fitchburg State, 1-0.
