MASCAC Women's Soccer Weekly Awards 10/30
After guiding their teams to league wins, Ashley Porter of Fitchburg State, Sydney Dewhurst of Bridgewater State and Tia Tollis of Westfield State earn the MASCAC Women's Soccer Offensive, Defensive and Rookie of the Week accolades.
Offensive Player of the Week |
Porter had her best game of the season this past weekend, netting the first two goals in a 4-1 victory over Framingham State. Of her two goals, one came as the game-winner and helped secure a spot for the Falcons in the MASCAC Tournament. |
Defensive Player of the Week |
Dewhurst anchored a BSU defensive unit that did not give up a shot in a 3-0 MASCAC shutout victory over MCLA and allowed just seven shots on goal in a 1-1 tie with non-conference foe UMass Boston. The Bears went 1-0-1 on the week and posted a team 0.50 goal against average with one shutout. Also scored the game-tying goal in the 1-1 tie with UMass Boston and dished out a pair of assists in the 3-0 win over the Trailblazers. |
Rookie of the Week |
Tollis made the most of her lone game of the week, tallying two goals and an assist as the Owls posted a 6-0 win over Salem State to close out the regular season. She opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with what proved to be the game winning goal. |
