Westfield State Earns Number One Seed in 2019 MASCAC Women's Soccer Tournament

Beginning Tuesday afternoon, #3 Worcester State hosts #6 Fitchburg State while #4 Bridgewater State entertains #5 Framingham State at 7 pm.
The quarterfinal winners will move on to the semifinal round on Friday, November 8. Top seed Westfield State will host the winner of Bridgewater State and Framingham State while second seed Salem State will face the winner of Worcester State and Fitchburg State. (Due to potential weather, the semifinal game date/time may change).
On Sunday, November 10, the two semifinal winners will then face off at the highest remaining seed for the conference title and a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
Grabbing the top seed and a first round bye, Westfield State ended the season 6-1 in MASCAC play to claim the regular season title. Lydia Kinsman led the way for the Owls with 12 goals and six assists for 30 points, including four game-winning goals, all of which were in the top four in the MASCAC. Between the pipes, freshman Lauryn Davis ended the regular season with a 1.16 GAA, 60 saves, 10 wins and an .800 save percentage.
With the other first round bye and the second seed is Salem State. The Vikings had a 5-1-1 record at the end of the league regular season. Devyn Malatesta netted seven goals and six assists for 20 points with a game-winner to help Salem State to their highest tournament seed in several years.
Worcester State has the third seed after finishing 5-1-1 during the MASCAC slate of games. In goal for the Lancers, Ashley Spellman collected a 1.29 GAA, 824 save percentage and five wins, including three shutouts on the year while making 56 saves.
Landing the fourth seed is Bridgewater State who was 5-2 in the conference at the end of the regular season. Alana Vincent closed out the year atop the MASCAC in goals with 16, including seven game-winners and total points with 39 while also collecting seven assists.
Finishing out the tournament field is Framingham State and Fitchburg State with the fifth and sixth seed, respectively. The Rams and Falcons each had two wins in conference play. Leading the way for Framingham State is Jasmine Lees who netted five goals and an assist for 11 points this season. In her first season with Fitchburg State, Elizabeth Read had 11 goals and five assists for 27 points while finding the net on four game-winners.
In the MASCAC Tournament title game in 2018, third seed Westfield State won their second straight tournament crown with a 3-0 win over fifth seed Salem State to punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
