NSCAA College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Winners
Fitchburg State, MCLA and Massachusetts Maritime women's soccer teams were recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for their outstanding sportsmanship on the field by receiving five or less yellow and zero red cards during the 2014 season.
This is the third straight honor for the Buccaneers, having won the gold award over the past two season. Last year the Trailblazers received the bronze award as a team. This is the first time the Falcons have been recognized by the NSCAA.
Eight intercollegiate teams received the NSCAA's Gold Team Ethics Award for completing the entire 2014 season without receiving either a yellow or red card.
In all, 125 teams received either the Gold, Silver or Bronze version of the College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award, which recognizes teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards they are shown by referees throughout the season.
A total of 82 teams claimed the Silver Award, which is given to teams that accumulate no red cards and a maximum of five yellow cards, while the Bronze Award went to 35 teams, which is presented to teams that receive no reds and a maximum of 10 yellows.
A complete list of recipients and level explanation follows:
Gold: No cards accumulated during the season
