Framingham, Mass. – Senior midfielder Kayla Austin (Winchester, Mass.) has been selected to the Capital One Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Austin is a first team honoree from District 1.
The Academic All-District Teams are released to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. First team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first, second and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Austin, majoring in Criminology with minors in Sociology and Diversity Studies, has led the Rams to their best record (12-1-1) since 2000. A Dean’s List and President’s List student, she has been named to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) All-Academic Team in 2011 and 2012 and has been voted onto the All-Conference team twice (2011 & 2012).

Austin, the only men’s or women’s soccer player from the MASCAC to recognized on the Capital One Academic All-District Team, is the first Ram to be honored by CoSIDA since former volleyball standout Tara Costa was named to the CoSIDA College Division District I Third Team in 2004 and 2005.
