MASCAC Softball Weekly Awards 3/10
Reagan Kerecz and Natalie Gale of Mass. Maritime along with Katherine Canty of Westfield State take home the first MASCAC Softball Player, Pitcher and Rookie of the Week honors of the season.
Player of the Week |
Kerecz batted .591(13-22) in a 4-2 week with a .615 on-base percentage, a double, drove in five runs, walked three times, scored eight runs, did not strikeout in any of her 26 plate appearances, and stole 10 bases for the Buccaneers. Had a hit in five of the six games, recorded an RBI in five of six games, and had one or more stolen bases in four of the six games for Maritime. In her first two games of the season, Kerecz went 7-for-8 at the plate with a double, two RBI, a walk, seven stolen bases and five runs scored. |
Pitcher of the Week |
Canty tossed eight innings, allowing just one run and striking out 10 in two games with a 0.88 ERA and a 0.75 whip. She earned a win and a no decision as the Owls started the season 3-1 in Florida. Yielded just one hit in four innings in the season opener against SUNY Cobleskill. |
Rookie of the Week |
Gale batted .500 (8-for-16) at the plate with two doubles, drove in three runs, walked five times, scored seven times, stole two bases in 21 plate appearances and posting a .619 on-base percentage in a 4-2 week for the Bucs. In her second game as a Buccaneer, she went 4-for-4 at the plate with a double, three driven in and a run scored in a 10-5 win for Maritime. |
