MASCAC Softball Weekly Report 4/26
The Bridgewater State pairing of Madison Synan and Kelley Reichert earned this week's MASCAC Player and Pitcher of the Week honors, while Framingham State's Shannon Ward was the Rookie of the Week brought to you by GEICO.
Player of the Week |
Synan batted .714 with a double, a walk, a hit by pitch, three runs scored and four RBI in three games for the Bears last week. Also registered a sacrifice fly and two sacrifice bunts. Went 1-for-3 with two sacrifice bunts in a 5-4, nine inning MASCAC win over Westfield State, and 4-for-4 with a double, walk, hit by pitch, sacrifice fly, three runs and four RBI in a non-conference doubleheader sweep of the Owls. |
Pitcher of the Week |
Reichert went 4-0 in four appearances in the circle with one complete game and two wins in relief against Westfield State. Posted a 1.29 earned run average and fanned 19 batters, while walking only three over 16.1 innings of work. Allowed two runs and struck out nine over 8.2 innings as she won both games of a MASCAC twinbill with the Owls. Gave up just one run over 7.2 innings with 10 strikeouts in a pair of non-conference victories against the Owls.

Rookie of the Week |
Ward went 2-0 with a 1.40 ERA and 14 Ks in 10 innings of work in a 3-1 week for the Rams. Earned the win in both ends of the conference double header sweep of the Fitchburg State. Pitched two innings in relief giving up two hits and one run and striking out three in game one before coming back to toss a complete game six-inning performance allowing just two hits and one earned run, striking out six in the Rams 12-4 win. Added two stellar innings in relief in game one on Saturday slamming the door on a 5-1 Rams win pitching a scoreless two innings and striking out five.
