MASCAC Softball Weekly Report 3/16
Molly Grass and Sarah Cahill of Fitchburg State and Kelley Reichert of Bridgewater State grab the MASCAC Softball Player, Rookie and Pitcher of the Week accolades after playing over spring break last week. Awards brought to you each week by GEICO.
Player of the Week |
Grass batted .433 (13-30) with two doubles, two triples, 10 runs scored, four walks and six RBI, while slugging .633 in a 6-4 week for the Falcons. Went a combined 2-for-7 with two triples, four runs scored and one RBI in wins over Medaille College and Penn State Harrisburg before going 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a double and one RBI in a 17-5 victory against Albertus Magnus College. Concluded the week with a 2-for-4 effort with a double, one run scored and an RBI in a setback to Franciscan University. |
Pitcher of the Week |
Reichert went 3-3 with six complete games and a shutout in eight appearances (six starts) for the Bears at The Spring Games in Clermont, Florida. Posted a 3.23 ERA in 47 2/3 innings of work with 25 strikeouts. Scattered six hits and fanned five in an 8-0 five-inning shutout of Cornell College. Allowed four earned runs on ten hits with a walk and a strikeout in a 6-5 complete game win over Plymouth State University. Allowed three earned runs on nine hits over eight innings with five walks and four strikeouts in a 6-5 win over Clarkson University. |
Rookie of the Week |
Cahill went 3-0 in the circle for the Falcons with seven strikeouts over 12.1 innings of work. Earned her first collegiate victory, allowing one unearned run on one hit with one strikeout in two innings of relief in a 9-7 win over Penn. State Harrisburg before combining for six strikeouts over 6.2 innings of work in wins against Albertus Magnus and St Joseph (CT). Batted .400 (4-for-10) with three doubles, one triple, one run scored and nine RBI as well as slugging .900 in a 6-4 week for the Falcons. Finished 1-for-1 with a double and three RBI in a 9-7 triumph over Penn State Harrisburg before going 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and three RBI in a 17-5 triumph against Albertus Magnus College. Added a 1-for-3 effort with a triple, one run scored and three RBI in a 10-2 win against St. Joseph (CT) University. |
