Bridgewater State's White Named NFCA Division III National Pitcher of the Week
Bridgewater State University senior right-hander Amber White has been selected as the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III National Pitcher of the Week.

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University senior right-hander Amber White has been selected as the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III National Pitcher of the Week.
White went 3-0 with a save, three complete games and three shutouts in four appearances for the Bears last week. She did not allow a run in 20 2/3 innings of work, struck out 23 batters, walked just one and gave up just seven hits on the week. Bridgewater finished 5-1 on the week including a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) sweep of Salem State University.
White posted a two-hit shutout with six strikeouts in an 8-0 game one win over the Vikings while picking up the save in the Bears' 14-4 victory in game two. She also hurled a three-hit shutout with nine strikeouts in a 7-0 win over Clark University, and a two-hit shutout with nine strikeouts in a 1-0 win over Babson College.
In 18 appearances including 14 starts this season, White is 14-2 with 12 complete games and nine shutouts. She has posted an impressive 0.54 earned run average with 90 strikeouts in 103 1/3 innings of work. Opponents are also batting just .143 against her.
White presently leads the MASCAC in wins, winning percentage (.875), shutouts, ERA, complete games, innings pitched and appearances, and She is also tied for first in the conference in both saves and games started and ranks second in strikeouts. White is also tied for second in all of Division III in shutouts, and is seventh nationally in ERA and eighth in fewest his allowed per seven innings (3.45).
In 74 appearances including 60 starts over three seasons with the Bears, White is 45-15 (.750) with a 1.00 earned run average, 51 complete games and 23 shutouts as well as six saves. She has fanned 359 batters in 427 2/3 innings of work and has strikeout to walk ratio of more than 5 to 1.
A two-time MASCAC Pitcher of the Year, White ranks second in Bridgewater State softball history in shutouts, third in strikeouts and is tied for second in no-hitters with three. She is one shutout shy of Amanda Sanson's (1999-2002) program record of 24, and her 1.00 career ERA is presently lower than Sanson's all-time mark of 1.11.
White, who also spent one season (2011) at Plymouth State University before transferring to BSU, has produced 55 collegiate wins with a career 1.32 ERA and 459 strikeouts in 547 innings of work.
Earlier this week, White was named the MASCAC Pitcher of the Week for the fourth time this season, as well as ECAC Division III New England Pitcher of the Week for the third time in 2014.
The BSU softball team is currently 19-9 on the season and alone atop the MASCAC standings with a 6-0 conference mark. The Bears are back in action on Thursday afternoon when they travel to Tufts University for a non-conference doubleheader with the defending national champion Jumbos. Game one of the twinbill is slated to get underway at three.
