Sawyer was inducted into East Longmeadow High School's inaugural Hall of Fame Class in November of 2010. She was a softball high school All-America selection during her senior season in 1997 and was selected to the All-State team her senior year in both softball and soccer, where she was a four-year starter at goalie. "Being a Western Mass. native, I'm thrilled to be joining the Westfield State athletics department,” said Sawyer. “Not only do I look forward to starting a career close to home but I'm thrilled to be a part of the university and a softball program that has proven itself on the field and in the classroom. I hope to build upon those successes immediately."
Westfield State has posted five straight 20-win seasons and has claimed a share of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) regular season championship in each of the past three seasons.
“I am pleased to welcome Lindsay as a member of our coaching staff,” said Westfield State athletics director Dick Lenfest. “Lindsay's experience and success as a former Division I student-athlete, coupled with her energy and enthusiasm, will be an asset to our department and softball program. I look forward to her leadership and the continued success and development of Westfield State University softball."
