As the winter regular season has concluded, Westfield State retains their advantage in the 2023-24 Howard C. Smith Cup standings. The Smith Cup is awarded annually to the member institution which compiles the most points based on the placement of each of its programs competing in the league championship sports.

Worcester State Falls in Overtime to Catholic in NCAA Tournament
The Worcester State Men's Basketball team (18-9, 10-2) returns for their second year of NCAA first round action, taking on the host The Catholic University of America (24-3, 16-2) for a chance to take on Rowan, who won the game earlier in the day. It would be a game of team work and persistence for Worcester as they traveled down to DC to take on the Landmark Champions.

Junior Aaron Nkrumah of Worcester State and senior Brendon Hamilton of Westfield State are the 2023-24 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player and Defensive Player of the Year and headline the All-Conference team which is voted on by the seven coaches around the conference.
