Westfield State Wins Fifth Straight MASCAC Women's Cross Country Title
For the fifth straight season, the Westfield State Owls are the top team in the MASCAC after winning the women's cross country championship on Saturday.

The Owls finished with 20 points while second place finisher Bridgewater State had 62. Framingham State was next in third with 68, Worcester State fourth with 94 and Mass. Maritime in fifth with 147. Fitchburg State and MCLA rounded out the team scores with 167 and 188, respectively.
Westfield State had eight of the top 10 finishers over the 5k race. Tealei Chandonnet was second with a time of 18:56 while Julianne Kelly was third with a time of 19:05 and Shea Hamel next in fourth in 19:20. Molly Kennedy was up next in fifth with a time of 19:23. Sophia Rebenciuc earned MASCAC Rookie of the Year honors as the top first time performer with a 5k time of 19:27. Reese Stevens crossed the line in 19:34, good enough for seventh. Brynne LeCours grabbed the eight spot with a time of 19:39 while Eliza Lee rounded out the top 10 finishers with a time of 20:06.
For the second straight year, Bridgewater State's Naomi Cass was the top overall finisher to earn herself Runner of the Year honors with a time of 18:31, a good 25 seconds faster than the next competitor. Joining Cass in the top 10 was Lily Valcovic who came in ninth with a time of 19:42.
After leading Westfield State to this year's MASCAC Championship, Marlee Berg was named the BSN Sports Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year as voted on by the coaches.
The MASCAC teams have a week off before racing again in their respective NCAA Regionals on Saturday, November 16.
