Cass of Bridgewater State Named MASCAC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Year, Headlines 2023 All-Conference Team
Sophomore Naomi Cass of Bridgewater State named the 2023 MASCAC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Year honors after finishing as the top overall finisher at the conference championship on Saturday. Her result also headlines this year’s All-Conference team.

Westfield, Mass. — Sophomore Naomi Cass of Bridgewater State named the 2023 MASCAC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Year honors after finishing as the top overall finisher at the conference championship on Saturday. Her result also headlines this year’s All-Conference team.
Cass, a sophomore from Westport, Mass., won the 2023 MASCAC Women’s Cross Country meet with a 5k time of 19:10 to earn the Runner of the Year accolades. She is the first Bear to win the individual title since 2013. Her finish helped guide the Bears to a team runner-up mark.
Crossing the line as the first rookie finisher is Kate Buban of Framingham State. The freshman from Wrentham, Mass. was the Rams top finisher as she completed the 5K course in eighth place with a time of 20:46.39 which was just over three seconds behind the seventh place finisher.
After coaching Cass to the individual crown and the team to a runner-up finish, Christine Kloiber of Bridgewater State was named the 2023 BSN Sports Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year as voted on by the coaches around the league.
Sitting on this year’s All-Conference Team with Cass and Buban are Nicole Major and Lily Valcovic of Bridgewater State, Skye Goba of Fitchburg State, Shea Hamel, Julianne Kelly, Molly Kennedy, Ariann Lecours and Eliza Lee of Westfield State.
