Westfield State Claims the 2021 MASCAC Women's Cross Country Championship
For the 15th time since 2004, Westfield State has claimed the MASCAC Women's Cross Country Championship at Willard Park in Devens, Mass. on a wet Saturday afternoon.

Westfield State finished with 37 points while Bridgewater State came in second with 52 points. Landing is third was Worcester State with 87 with Fitchburg State in fourth with 98 points and Framingham State also with 98 points for fifth. Mass. Maritime closed out the standings in sixth place with 141 points.
For the team champion Westfield State, Amy O'Sullivan earned MASCAC Runner of the Year honors after crossing the line with a time of 18:46 over the 5k course. Her time was a minute and a half faster than her next competitor. Along with O'Sullivan teammates Mia McDonald and Kerin Johnson claimed All-Conference honors. McDonald had a time of 20:40 for fourth place. Johnson was right behind in fifth with a time of 20:50 to earn MASCAC Rookie of the Year accolades.
Second place finisher Bridgewater State had three in the top 10 for a spot on the All-Conference team. Julie Galvin came across in second place in a time of 20:21. Maura Bruns came in seventh for a 5k time of 20:57 while teammate Ashley Schepis was ninth in 21:14.
Worcester State's Kasey Clark finished in third place with a time of 20:26. Erica Hanlon made it across the line in 10th with a time of 21:15 to see the duo earn a spot on the All-Conference team.
The Fitchburg State duo of Abby Murphy and Lilah McAndrew claimed the final two spots on the All-Conference squad. Murphy came in sixth with a 5k time of 20:55 while McAndrew was eighth in a time of 21:02.
For helping the Owls to the team title, Westfield State's Bill Devine was named the Champion's Choice Coach of the Year.
The MASCAC cross country teams will get a week off before heading to Boston for the DIII New England Regionals on November 13 hosted by Suffolk University.
