Westfield State Claims 2014 MASCAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship
The Westfield State Owls claimed the 2014 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Sunday over defending champions Worcester State at the 2014 MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships.

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Westfield State Owls claimed the 2014 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Sunday over defending champions Worcester State at the 2014 MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships.
Hosted by UMass Dartmouth, Westfield State finished with a team total of 224 points over Worcester State who came in second with 192 points. Bridgewater State finished in third with 167 points while Fitchburg State and Massachusetts Maritime rounded out the MASCAC finishers with 48 points and one point, respectively.
The Owls took home nine individual titles overall. Targie Gervais was a dual winner, taking home top honors in both the 100 (12.32) and 200 meter dash (25.78). Joining Gervais with two first place finishes, Ashley Monahan finished first in both the 400 (60.78) and 800 meter run (2:22.77) while Olivia Marshall led the way in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (12:05.63).
On the field side, Naloti Palma set a new MASCAC and New England Alliance record in the shot put (45' 3.5"/13.80 meters) and top honors in the discus throw (125'/38.10 meters). Amy Auclair leaped to a top finish in the pole vault (11' 1.75"/3.40 meters) and Alex Livingston grabbed top honors in the hammer throw (145' 5.0"/44.33 meters). The Owls took home two relay crowns as well in both the 4x100 relay (50.60) and 4x800 relay (10:16.25).
Runner-up Worcester State took home four individual titles at the MASCAC Championship. Christy Deininger placed first in the 100 meter hurdles (15.01) while teammate Megan Taylor was best in the 400 meter hurdles (67.31). Amanda Caldarone and Alyssa Jasper landed top honors in the long jump (16' 2.50"/4.94 meters) and javelin (137' 7"/41.94 meters), respectively.
Third place finisher Bridgewater State claimed five individual crowns for the Bears. Danielle Poto was a medalist in both the 1,500 meters (5:07.34) and 5,000 meters (18:55.58) with fellow Bear Jacey Peers finishing first in the 10,000 meters (40:53.59). Samantha Richner cleared the top height in the MASCAC in the high jump (4'11.75"/1.52 meters) while Ariele Krevosky landed in first in the triple jump (34' 9.5"/10.60 meters). The Bears added another top billing in the 4x400 meter relay (4:04.75).
