MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Awards 5/6
After leading the Owls to the MASCAC Tournament title, Megan Bailey and Kara Banagan of Westfield State take home the MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week while Madigan Kelley of Worcester State earns Rookie of the Week honors.

Bailey was named the MASCAC Tournament Most Valuable Player after an all-around performance in the league’s title game against Framingham State, totaling one goal, an assist, six ground balls, and seven draw controls to help guide Westfield to an 11-6 win. She also tallied a career-high 11 draw controls in the 22-10 conference semifinal win over Worcester State. |
Defensive Player of the Week
Kara Banagan, Westfield State
Senior, Goalie, Niskayuna, N.Y.
Banagan compiled a 63.3 save percentage, 7.33 GAA with 19 saves in two games to lead the Owls to the
MASCAC Tournament title for the second straight year and sixth in seven years. Stopped 12 of 18 shots faced
in the 11-6 win against top-seeded Framingham State. Made 12 saves in only a half of work in the 22-10 semifinal win over Worcester State.
Rookie of the Week |
Kelley tallied two assists. five ground balls, six draw controls and four caused turnovers in a 1-1 week during the MASCAC Tournament. Had five draws, four ground balls and three caused turnovers in the 17-7 quarterfinal win over Salem State. Added five ground balls, four caused turnovers and a draw in the 22-10 semifinal setback to Westfield State. |
