Plymouth State Claims Top Spot in First-Ever MASCAC Women's Ice Hockey Tournament
For the first time in conference history, a MASCAC Women's Ice Hockey Tournament Champion will be crowned and Plymouth State holds the top spot heading into the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Up first is the quarterfinal round on Wednesday, February 26 with #4 Anna Maria hosting #5 MCLA at 5:40 pm while #3 Rivier entertains #6 Framingham State at 8 pm. The two winners will then move on to the semifinals on Friday, February 28 with second seed Worcester State will face the highest remaining seed at 2:50 pm and top seed Plymouth State taking on the lowest remaining seed at 6 pm.
The two semifinal victors will then meet on Friday, March 7 for the tournament crown and the title of MASCAC Tournament Champions.
Plymouth State earned the top seed and a share of the regular season title after finishing with 34 points on an 11-2-2 conference mark. Leading the way for the Panthers is Katie Porrello who ended the regular season first in the conference in assists with 14, fourth in points with 21 and scored seven goals. Of her seven goals, four were on the power play and she closed out the season at +15.
Grabbing the other first round bye is Worcester State who claimed the other share of the regular season crown at 10-3-2 with 34 points. In between the pipes, Kelsey Czerniawski was lights out, finishing atop the conference in saves with 606 and save percentage at .957 plus the second-most wins with eight, win percentage at .600 and goals against average at 1.75.
Rivier landed in the third spot after finishing with a 10-4-1 record for 31 points to host a quarterfinal contest. Rebecca McKelvey found the back of the net 17 times with six on the power play which were the most in the conference. She also assisted on nine goals for 20 points while tallying three game-winners on the year.
Landing the final hosting responsibilities for the opening round is Anna Maria who was 6-7-2 during MASCAC play. Jordyn Bleaney was an equal opportunity scorer and sharer as she registered eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points, all in the top 10 of the league. Six of her goals came on the power play while she tallied one game-winner.
Rounding out this historic tournament field are MCLA and Framinghmam State in fifth and sixth. The Trailblazers will look to Carlen Bertrand who finished with 22 points on 15 goals and seven assists with six power play goals and four game-winners. For the Rams, Lila Chamoun stopped 509 shots with a .929 save percentage which were in the top five of the MASCAC.
