Starting up on Tuesday with the quarterfinal round, #3 Salem State hosts #6 Fitchburg State and #4 Westfield State hosts #5 Worcester State both at 7 pm. The two quarterfinal winners will move on to the semifinal games on Thursday with the lowest remaining seed facing top seed Bridgewater State and the highest other remaining seed facing two seed Framingham State both at 7 pm.
The semifinal victors will then meet up on Saturday, March 1 for the MASCAC Tournament Championship and a spot in the NCAA Tournament to be played at the highest remaining seed.
Bridgewater State earns the MASCAC Regular Season title and top spot in this week's tournament after going 9-1 in league action. Led by two-time MASCAC Player of the Year Kylie Grassi who finished first in the league with 17.8 points per game. She was also second in free throw percentage at 72.8 percent while collecting five rebounds per game with 46 steals and 44 assists for the Bears.
Landing the other first round bye with the second seed is Framingham State. The reigning tournament champs look to reclaim their title after they finished 6-4 behind freshman Faith Greene who averaged a double-double of 12.8 points and 11.2 rebounds per game. She also registered 22 blocks, 25 steals and 10 assists in her first year for the squad.
Salem State is third and gets to host a first round game after also finishing 6-4 in conference play. The Vikings look to double-double machine Ernidia Goncalves who averaged one almost every game. She closed out the regular season averaging 14.4 points and 13.8 rebounds a game while shooting 43 percent from the field. She led the league in blocks with 41 while adding 42 steals and 39 assists.
Grabbing the final hosting duties is Westfield State with the fourth seed. The Owls also tied at 6-4. Jordan Grant sat atop the conference in field goal percentage at 50 while sitting second with 16.8 points per contest. She averaged six rebounds per game plus 58 steals, 44 assists and 20 blocks at the end of the regular season.
Closing out the tournament field for this year is Worcester State and Fitchburg State with the fifth and sixth seed. For the Lancers, Katie Hurynowicz was a solid presence for the team, averaging 15.9 points and 5.5 rebounds a game while sitting sixth in the conference with 65 assists plus 41 steals and 14 blocks. For the Falcons, Rylie Harlow ended the regular season in the top five of points per game with 15.4 while averaging six rebounds per game. She added 52 assists, 37 steals and seven blocks to her season totals.
At last year's MASCAC Tournament Championship, top seed Framingham State defeated second seed Bridgewater State, 74-62, to claim the crown and punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
