Framingham, Mass. – The top seed Framingham State University women's basketball team received 27 points from Tournament MVP Mary Kate O'Day (Berlin, Mass.) as the Rams defeated third seed Worcester State 66-51 in the championship game of the 2020 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Tournament at the Athletic Center.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• With the victory, the Rams win their first MASCAC Tournament Title and establish a new single season record for victories with 22.  The Rams receive the MASCAC's automatic bid to the 2020 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship.
• O'Day paced the Rams in the game with her 27 points on 8-of-16 from the floor and 10-of-12 from the line.  O'Day added eight rebounds, two assists and a block.
• Freshman Flannery O'Connor (Amesbury, Mass.) was the only other Rams with double figures as she tallied a double double of 12 points and 11 rebounds with a pair of assists.
• The duo of freshmen Krysta Padellaro (Newburyport, Mass.) and Katty Haidul (Wakefield, Mass.) tallied seven points apiece, while senior Emily Velozo (Tewksbury, Mass.) finished with six.
• The Lancers were led by a team-high 22 points from senior guard Mya Mosley (Worcester, Mass.).  Mosley struggled from the floor in the game connecting on just 8-of-24, but added a pair of assists and six steals.
• Junior Gigi LeMay (Grafton, Mass.) tallied nine points and six rebounds off the bench for the Lancers, while senior Catherine Sweeney (Lowell, Mass.) finished with six points, eight rebounds, and four steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Rams jumped out to a 10-0 lead midway through the first quarter thanks to four points from O'Day.
• Worcester State countered with a spurt of their own cutting the deficit to 12-10 after one quarter.
• The Rams opened the second quarter with a 6-0 run taking an 18-10 lead on an O'Day layup with 7:21 on the clock.  Worcester responded with a 13-4 run capped by a Mosley three to take their first lead of the game, 24-22, with 1:51 left in the second. 
• O'Day tallied the final five points of the half giving the Rams a 27-24 lead at the break.
• Worcester opened the third quarter taking a 32-30 lead on a Mosley layup with 7:21 on the clock.
• An 8-0 run by the Rams over the next three minutes put them on top 38-32 and they never looked back.  The Rams built the lead to 16 after three quarters, 50-34.
• The Lancers chipped away at the lead and trailed, 56-46, after a Lemay three-point play with 5:34 on the clock.
• The Rams quickly pushed the lead back to double digits after an O'Day three-point play, but the Lancers closed the gap to eight, 59-51, with 2:44 on the clock.
• Four straight from the Rams from Haidul pushed the lead to 63-51 and the Rams sealed the win from the line.

The Rams receive the MASCAC's automatic bid to the 2020 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament and will find out who they will face on Monday when the selection show airs at 2:30 p.m. on ncaa.com.
