Bridgewater State Wins Third Straight MASCAC Men's Indoor Track and Field Crown
For the third straight year, Bridgewater State wins the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship which was contested on Saturday on the campus of Smith College.

For the third straight year, Bridgewater State wins the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship which was contested on Saturday on the campus of Smith College.
The Bears finished the day with 246 points while runner-up Westfield State was next with 168 points. Fitchburg State and Worcester State rounded out the team scores in third and fourth with 109 and 57 points, respectively.
Bridgewater State took home 10 of the individual crowns on Saturday. Josh Higgins earned two MASCAC individual titles and one relay. He was first across the line in both the 600 meter dash (1:23.48) and mile run (4:23.73). Matthew Lighten set a new conference record in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.94. Jacob DeAndrade took home the top spot in the 60 meter dash in 6.95. Lamont Haynes was the top finisher in the 400 meter dash (50.72) while Joseph Madden crossed the line first in the 800 meter run (2:00.68). Mike Hutchinson was a league champion in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 9:10.53 while teammate Trevor Wysong started the day with a first place finish in the 5,000 meters in 15:28.37.
In the 4x200 meter relay, DeAndrade, Haynes, Lighten and Jadin Bruneau were first in a time of 1:28.66 for a new MASCAC record. The quartet of Higgins, Haynes, Olivier Ndikumana and John Lara were the 4x400 champs with a time of 3:28.48.
On the field side, Joseph Zingarelli cleared 4.30 meters to take home the pole vault MASCAC championship. Nick Johnson heaved the weight throw 17.42 meters to earn the MASCAC crown in the event.
Westfield State finished with four individual and the final relay of the day. Owen Ortiz was a two-time winner in the long jump and triple jump 7.02 and 13.38 meters. Conner Grady brought home the 1,000 meter run crown with a time of 2:40.02 while William Canty raced across the line first in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.49.
In the final relay, Grady, Zac Bentley, Shea Hiltz and Corey Pooler came across the line in 8:28.09 to claim the league title.
Christian McWhinnie-Armstead was the sole individual champion on the day for Fitchburg State. His top clearing of 2.00 meters was good enough for first in the high jump.
Elmer Acuna of Worcester State had the furthest heave in the shot put to grab the league crown with a top throw of 14.61 meters for the team's only individual title.
