Although the MASCAC isn't having fall contests this semester, the conference still wants to recognize the great success of our fall student-athletes. Each week, the MASCAC will honor a champion from the 2019 championship season as MASCAC Players of the Week brought to you by GEICO.
For the second straight week, we are highlighting the 2019 MASCAC All-Conference squads. This week we recognize the honorees from men's soccer.
For the second straight season, Framingham State’s Bryce Nardizzi has been named MASCAC Offensive Player of the Year while Salem State’s Patrick Filetti was voted Defensive Player of the Year. The duo headlines the 2019 All-Conference Team as voted on by the coaches from around the league.
Nardizzi, a junior from Framingham, Mass. led the Rams to a share of the MASCAC Regular Season title and the top seed in last week’s tournament. He finished the year atop the conference leaderboard in points (25) and assists (seven) while tallying the second-most goals (nine) with three game-winners. During two games this season against Massachusetts Maritime and Dean, he collected two goals in the Rams’ victory.
For Salem State, Filetti helped the Vikings earn the other share of the MASCAC Regular Season crown and number two seed in the tournament. The sophomore from Newburyport, Mass., helped the team end the season with a 1.41 goals against average, .071 shooting percentage with eight shutouts this season.
