Plymouth State Lands Top Seed in the 2024 MASCAC Men's Ice Hockey Tournament
After winning their seventh straight regular season title, Plymouth State landed the top seed in the 2024 MASCAC Men's Ice Hockey Tournament which starts Thursday with the quarterfinal round.

After winning their seventh straight regular season title, Plymouth State landed the top seed in the 2024 MASCAC Men's Ice Hockey Tournament which starts Thursday with the quarterfinal round.
Up first is the quarterfinal round on Thursday, February 22 with #3 UMass Dartmouth hosting #6 Worcester State at 7 pm then #4 Westfield State hosting #5 Framingham State at 7:35 pm. Next on Saturday, February 24 in the semifinal round, #2 Fitchburg State will host the highest remaining seed at 5 pm while #1 Plymouth State will get the lowest remaining seed at 6 pm.
The championship game will then see the two semifinal winners face off on Saturday, March 2 for the MASCAC Tournament title and spot in the NCAA Tournament with the host and time to be determined.
The Panthers used a record of 18-1-2 to claim their seventh straight MASCAC Regular Season crown and leading the way was Will Redick who not only leads the league in points with 53 on 26 goals and 27 assists but is also the NCAA Division III leader in points per game (2.30), goals per game (1.13), assists per game (1.17) and power play goals with 11.
Earning the other first round bye is Fitchburg State with the second seed. The Falcons were 13-6-2 to close out the conference schedule. Between the pipes goalie Frederick Soderberg registered a 2.60 goals against average, .927 save percentage with eight wins, 29 goals against and a .727 win percentage all within the top two of the league to end the regular season.
UMass Dartmouth is next with the third seed and quarterfinal hosting duties. The Corsairs were 13-8 at the end of the league slate. Michael Perrone found the back of the net 14 times while assisting on 18 others for a total of 32 points. He also netted four game winning goals and two power play goals on the year.
With the final quarterfinal hosting responsibility is Westfield State with the fourth seed. The Owls were 9-10-2 and led by first year forward Christopher Miraldo who tallied 17 goals and 10 assists for 27 points while collecting five power play goals and two game winners over his 14 games started.
Finishing out this year's tournament field is Framingham State and Worcester State with the fifth and sixth seed, respectively. Trevor Stenberg in goal registered a .911 save percentage with 571 saves, a 3.03 goals against average, 56 goals against and seven wins on the season. For the Lancers, Brendan Ronan netted 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points with two game-winning goals and two power play goals on the season.
At the 2023 MASCAC Men's Ice Hockey Tournament Championship, number one seed Plymouth State defeated second seed Worcester State 5-2 to take home the tournament title and a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
