Springfield Picked to Repeat at 2024 MASCAC Men’s Golf Championship
Last season’s MASCAC Men’s Golf Champion Springfield has been chosen to claim their second straight title at the 2024 MASCAC Men’s Golf Championship as voted on by the coaches from around the league.

Westfield, Mass.— Last season’s MASCAC Men’s Golf Champion Springfield has been chosen to claim their second straight title at the 2024 MASCAC Men’s Golf Championship as voted on by the coaches from around the league.
The Pride received five first place votes to land in the top spot in this year’s poll. At last year’s championship, the team finished with a two-day score of 623 with all five of their golfers earning All-Conference accolades, placing in the top 10. The Pride returned three golfers who finished in the top seven, including David Girouard, Amir Ardolino, and Justin Acquarolo.
Taking the final two first place votes in second is MCLA. Mat Gover led the Trailblazers to their highest MASCAC Championship finish with a second place showing. Gover collected a two-day score of 147, including a 71 on the first day to take home the MASCAC Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year accolades.
Sitting in third is Salem State. The Vikings finished third at the 2023 MASCAC Championship. Ethan Doyle was the top finisher for the Vikings, tied for second with a two-day score of 153, including a round one score of 72 to earn a spot on the All-Conference team.
Joining the MASCAC as an affiliate is Marymount who lands in fourth. The Saints are fresh off their first NCAA Tournament berth after receiving the automatic qualifier from the Atlantic East Conference. Chase Manion shot a two-day total of 161 to finish third at the Atlantic East Tournament for Rookie of the Year honors and the Saints first-ever conference team title.
Worcester State is up next in fifth. The Lancers were fourth at the championship last season. Jon Gastonguay earned All-Conference honors after scoring 159 over the two-day tournament with a 75 on day two with three birdies to land in sixth.
Coming in sixth is Westfield State. The Owls came in fifth at the 2023 Championship. Thomas Onorato was 19th for the Owls at last year’s tournament with a two-day score of 178, shooting an 89 both days with a birdie on day two.
Rounding out the poll is new affiliate Marywood in seventh. The Pacers finished third at last year’s Atlantic East tournament with a team score of 677. Paul Appolt was the top finisher with a second place showing of 157 over the two-day championship.
The MASCAC men’s golf teams will get the 2024 season underway over the next few weeks which culminates in the MASCAC Championship on September 28-29 hosted by Westfield State at The Rance Golf Course in Southwick, Mass.
