Springfield Golf Concludes National Appearance At NCAA Division III Championships
The Springfield College golf team wrapped up their appearance on the national stage as they competed in the second round of the 2024 NCAA Division III Championships on Wednesday.
Boulder City, Nev. - May 15, 2024 - The Springfield College golf team wrapped up their appearance on the national stage as they competed in the second round of the 2024 NCAA Division III Championships on Wednesday.
A day after posting a team score of 316 strokes, Springfield turned in 322 strokes for a two-day total of 638 to finish 41st in the national competition.
Playing at The Legacy Golf Club, which measured 7,077 yards and was playing as a par 72, Springfield started off the round on the 10th hole. Nicholas DeMaio (West Springfield, Mass.) fired a team-best 76 behind 13 pars and the senior birdied his final hole of the tournament, the par 5, 533-yard 9th hole to finish off a 37 on the front. David Girouard (Chicopee, Mass.) added an 81 as he totaled nine pars, while Jack Diefenderfer (East Longmeadow, Mass.) began his round with seven-consecutive pars en route to his 82.
Justin Acquarulo (Branford, Conn.) notched a pair of birdies in his second round as he posted an 83 and Amir Ardolino (Wilbraham, Mass.) rounded out the Pride's scoring with a second-round mark of 88.
For Springfield, it marked its second-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Championships and first since 2013.
