Salem State’s Bryan Earns MASCAC Player of the Year, Headlines 2018-19 Men’s Basketball All-Conference Team
Sean Bryan from Salem State headlined the 2018-19 MASCAC Men's Basketball All-Conference Team as he was named the MASCAC Player of the Year in a vote conducted by the league's head coaches.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Salem State junior Sean Bryan was voted the 2018-19 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Year and headlines the All-Conference team which is voted on by the seven head coaches around the conference.
Bryan, a Lowell, Mass. product, was a major piece in the Vikings’ 10-2 MASCAC regular season, which earned them the top seed in the MASCAC Tournament. The junior was the league leader in scoring (25.4 ppg) and assists (145), while finishing in the top-five in a number of other statistical categories. He was second in free-throw percentage (83.8%), third in steals (57), and fourth in rebounding (8.0 rpg). His best scoring performance of the year was late in the season against Westfield when he dropped 41.
This year’s MASCAC Rookie of the Year award goes to Bridgewater State’s Admar Jaramillo. The Brockton, Mass. native finished second in the league in steals (65) and fifth in the league in assists (80). He averaged 8.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game while shooting 36.3% from the field.
After leading Salem State to the MASCAC regular-season title, once again, with a 10-2 record and earning the top seed in the conference tournament, Chris Harvey was voted the 2018-19 Champion’s Choice Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year.
Joining Bryan on the 2018-19 All-Conference First Team are his Salem State teammate Hakeem Animashaun, Jauch Green, Jr. from Westfield State, Manny Payton from Framingham State, and Nicholas Tracy from Fitchburg State.
On the Second Team are Ryan Carney from Bridgewater State, Marcus Collins from Westfield State, Tyler Dion from Worcester State, Shaun McCarthy from Worcester State, and Rayshon Ward from Bridgewater State.
The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation’s first Division III men’s and women’s playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC core member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men’s ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football beginning in 2013.
