MASCAC Field Hockey Weekly Awards 9/23

Kaleigh Murphy of Westfield State, Brianna Gagnon of Bridgewater State and Samantha Jones of Fitchburg State earn the MASCAC Field Hockey Offensive, Defensive and Rookie of the Week awards.

Offensive Player of the Week
Kaleigh Murphy, Westfield State
Junior, Forward, Pembroke, Mass.

Murphy tallied a pair of goals, including the game-winner in sudden-victory overtime to propel the Owls to a 3-2 victory over Worcester State, the reigning MASCAC Champion. The two-goal effort pushed her conference-leading goal total to six on the season.

Defensive Player of the Week
Brianna Gagnon, Bridgewater State
Junior, Goalie, Tewksbury, Mass.

Gagnon made three saves to record her first collegiate win and shutout in the Bears’ 1-0 MASCAC victory over Salem State.

Rookie of the Week
Samantha Jones, Fitchburg State
Freshman, Forward, Uxbridge, Mass.

Jones collected three points on one goal scored and one helper in the Falcons 4-2 triumph against the Rams of Framingham State on Friday evening.
