Framingham State Football Team Participates in ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in Honor of Football Alum
Framingham State University Director of Athletics and head football coach Tom Kelley, his coaching staff, and the 2015 Rams took time out of their preseason schedule Tuesday evening to show support for former Ram Kevin Gosnell, Class of 1991, as they participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
Framingham, Mass.- Framingham State University Director of Athletics and head football coach Tom Kelley, his coaching staff, and the 2015 Rams took time out of their preseason schedule Tuesday evening to show support for former Ram Kevin Gosnell, Class of 1991, as they participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
Gosnell, a strong supporter of the Rams football program since his graduation, is a former captain and offensive lineman for the Framingham State University football team who was recently diagnosed with ALS. ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.
Kelley and the Rams took the challenge after their practice and laid down the challenge to the other members of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) to follow suit and show their support for the cause.
The Ice Bucket Challenge began in 2014 by former Boston College athlete Pete Frates and has raised more than 200 million dollars for ALS research.
The Rams will continue their pre-season camp in preparation for their season opener at Endicott on Saturday, September 5that noon.
