The Bridgewater State duo of Scott Emerson and Riley Thornell with Ryan Lapierre of Westfield State earn the MASCAC Baseball Player, Rookie and Pitcher of the Week accolades after kicking off the conference schedule over the weekend.
Player of the Week |
Emerson batted .471 (8-17) with two doubles, two triples, a walk, nine runs and eight RBI in four games for the Bears last week. Also posted a .526 on base percentage and a .824 slugging percentage. Went 7-for-12 with a double, two triples, a walk, seven runs and eight RBI in a three game MASCAC sweep of MCLA. Also went 1-for-5 with a double and two runs in a 10-8 win over Lasell University. |
Pitcher of the Week |
Lapierre went eight innings without an earned run, allowing four hits and three walks while fanning 10 in the Owls’ 2-1 conference opening win over Fitchburg State. |
Rookie of the Week |
Thornell batted .421 (8-19) with a pair of doubles, two walks, seven runs and six RBI in a perfect 5-0 week for the Bears. Went 5-for-9 with two doubles, two walks, six runs and five RBI in a three-game MASCAC sweep of MCLA; 2-for-5 with an RBI in an 8-3 win over Curry College; and 1-for-5 with a run in a 10-8 triumph over Lasell University. |
