MASCAC Baseball Weekly Report 3/20
Brett Velzis of Mass. Maritime along with the Framingham State duo Vincent LoGuidice and Shane Costello take home the MASCAC Baseball Player, Pitcher and Rookie of the Week accolades after besting their opponents in non-league action.
Player of the Week |
Velzis batted .615 (8-13) with a double, triple, and home run, drove in three runs, scored five times, and walked four times with a .722 on-base percentage and a 1.077 slugging percentage in a 2-2 week for the Buccaneers. Went 3-for-4 with a double and RBI in the 2-1 setback to Coast Guard. Was 3-for-5 with a stolen base and run scored in the 9-5 win over Clark and 1-for-2 with three runs, home run, RBI and two walks in the 15-7 win over Northern Vermont-Lyndon. |
Pitcher of the Week |
LoGuidice tossed 4.1 scoreless innings in the Rams’ 10-0 victory over NEC. Allowed just three hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. |
Rookie of the Week |
Costello hit .579 (11-19) with two doubles, six RBI, six walks and eight runs scored in a 3-3 week for the Rams. Went 3-for-3 with a double, six RBI and four runs scored in 34-6 win over Albertus Magnus. Went 3-for-5 with a double and run scored in the 10-0 win over NEC. Also recorded two hits with a run scored in the 9-1 setback to Albertus Magnus. |
