MASCAC Baseball Weekly Report 4/11
Connor Morehouse of Fitchburg State, Matt Josselyn of Bridgewater State and Brett Velzis of Massachusetts Maritime take home the MASCAC Baseball Player, Pitcher and Rookie of the Week accolades after claiming conference victories over the weekend.
Player of the Week |
Morehouse batted .563 (9-16) with four doubles, two home runs, seven runs scored and five RBI in a 2-2 week for the Falcons. Went 4-for-5 with a double, one run scored and one RBI in a setback to Keene State College on Tuesday before adding a 2-for-5 effort with a double, home run, one run scored and three RBI in a 5-4 setback to Salem State on Friday. Concluded the week, going a combined 3-for-6 with two doubles, a home run, five runs scored and one RBI in a doubleheader sweep over Salem State.

Pitcher of the Week |
Josselyn tossed a complete game, three-hit shutout in the Bears’ 2-0 MASCAC win over Framingham State. Did not issue a walk and struck out a career-high 12 batters including the side in both the second and fifth innings. |
Rookie of the Week |
Velzis batted .636 (7-11) with a triple, home run, four RBI and five runs scored with a .692 on-base percentage and 1.091 slugging percentage in a 2-1 week for the Buccaneers. Had three hits in two of three games against Westfield State, including a 3-for-4 showing at the plate with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in the 9-6 win over the Owls and 3-for-5 with a triple, two RBI and two runs scored in the 11-9 win. |
