Bridgewater State’s Feeney, Framingham State’s Connelly Headline Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball All-Conference Team
Ryan Feeney of Bridgewater State earns MASCAC Player of the Year while Kevin Connelly is the MASCAC Pitcher of the Year and headline the 2017 MASCAC All-Conference team as voted by the eight coaches from around the league.
Westfield, Mass. — Ryan Feeney of Bridgewater State earns MASCAC Player of the Year while Kevin Connelly is the MASCAC Pitcher of the Year and headline the 2017 MASCAC All-Conference team as voted by the eight coaches from around the league.
Feeney, a senior from East Bridgewater, Mass. finished the regular season atop the league in batting average at .419, on-base percentage at .500 with the second-best slugging percentage at .600, third-most triples with three while also tallying 24 RBI and 19 runs scored. This is his second straight year as a MASCAC First Team All-Conference honoree.
Earning Pitcher of the Year honors, Connelly, a sophomore from Bolton, Mass. helped the Rams to the sixth seed in the conference tournament with a league leading seven wins, five of them complete games and three shutouts. He also netted a 2.35 ERA with 63 strikeouts which both are in the top three of the conference.
Ben Palatino, the freshman from Hudson, Mass., is the 2017 Rookie of the Year after hitting .341 with a .458 on-base percentage, 11 doubles, a triple, two home runs, 24 RBI and 35 runs scored in his first season with the Lancers. MCLA head coach Mike Gladu has earned the 2017 Champion’s Choice Baseball Coach of the Year after leading the Trailblazers to their first MASCAC Tournament berth since 2009 and the fifth seed in the tournament.
Grabbing a spot on the MASCAC First Team All-Conference along with Feeney and Connelly are Fitchburg State’s Nathan Littman and Noah Milliard, Massachusetts Maritime’s Connor Kennedy, Salem State’s Dan Connors, Brendan Greene and Joe White, Westfield State’s Anthony Crowley, Matt Nunes and Dan Rokitowski and Worcester State’s Adam Barry.
Making the MASCAC second team with Palatino are Bridgewater State’s Matt Levasseur, Fitchburg State’s Brandon Lefebvre, Sean Maki and Tyler Smith, Framingham State’s Jordan Pallazolla and Ryan Wardwell, MCLA’s Christian Seariac, Massachusetts Maritime’s Daniel Avery, Westfield State’s John Lippincott and Worcester State’s Jake Ryan.
