Salem State Earns Fourth Seed in NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament New England Regional
The Salem State Vikings have earned the fourth seed in the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament New England Regional after winning the conference's automatic bid into the tournament last weekend.

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The Salem State Vikings have earned the fourth seed in the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament New England Regional after winning the conference's automatic bid into the tournament last weekend.
Joining the Vikings in the New England Regional are Castleton, Curry, MIT, Ramapo, Southern Maine, Suffolk and Wesleyan (Conn.).
Salem State earned the MASCAC's automatic bid into the tournament after a championship game two victory over Worcester State, 6-5. Tournament MVP Andrew Deloury went 2-for-4 with two triples, an RBI and run scored in the championship game victory over Worcester State.
Salem State is led by junior second baseman Richard Fecteau (Newbury, MA) and senior outfielder Kevin Carens (Northborough, MA), who were both named to the 2015 All-MASCAC Baseball First-Team. Fecteau, the player of the year last season, earned first-team honors after leading the league in batting average (.405), doubles, (17), and finished second in hits (49). Carens, a right fielder, led the conference in stolen bases with 19, and topped Salem State in runs scored (28) and was second on the team in batting average (.328).
Up first for the Vikings is fifth seed MIT on Wednesday, May 13 at a time that has yet to be determined. The winner will face off with the winner of Southern Maine and Suffolk which will also be played on Wednesday. The loser of the two contests will then fight for a spot to continue on in the tournament on May 14.
