Fecteau Headlines 2014 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball All-Conference Team
Salem State second baseman Richard Fecteau has earned the 2014 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors and headlines the all-conference squad as voted by the eight coaches from around the league.

WESTFIELD, Mass. — Salem State second baseman Richard Fecteau has earned the 2014 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors and headlines the all-conference squad as voted by the eight coaches from around the league.
Helping the Vikings to a second seed in the conference tournament
and a share of the regular season title, Fecteau, the 2013 MASCAC
Rookie of the Year, finished the season hitting .375 with 21
doubles, four triples and 26 RBI while also netting a .586 slugging
percentage and seven stolen bases.
Salem State’s Ryan Hyjek was named the 2014 MASCAC Pitcher of the Year after closing out the season with the second most wins in the conference at six, a 2.10 ERA and 41 strikeouts, the fourth most in the league. He also went the distance in five games and registed four shutouts on the year.
Fitchburg State outfielder Steven Drury Jr. and Framingham State pitcher Mike Andrews have earned the 2014 Co-Rookie of the Year honors after having strong freshman campaigns for their respective teams. Drury Jr. finished the year atop the conference in batting average (.455) and tied for third in RBI (26). Andrews topped the conference in ERA (0.97) while also leading the league in wins (7). For his efforts in leading Worcester State to the top seed in the tournament and a share of the regular season title, Dirk Baker has been named the 2014 Champion’s Choice Coach of the Year.
Landing themselves on the MASCAC first team all-conference along with Fecteau, Hyjek and Drury Jr. are Bridgewater State’s Nicholas White, Framingham State’s Billy Derosier, Salem State’s Ethan Trowt and Brett Cahill, Westfield State’s E.G. McMillian and Dan McCormack and Worcester State’s Dave Ruggiero and Ben Libuda.
Joining Andrews on the MASCAC second team all-conference team are Framingham State’s Ivan Colon, MCLA’s Chase Preite and Rory Slattery, Massachusetts Maritime’s Kyle Kennedy, Bob Lee and Bobby Rosano, Salem State’s Matt Burgess and Mike Lamothe, Westfield State’s Tim Santilli and Worcester State’s Adam Barry.
The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation’s first Division III men’s and women’s playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC core member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men’s ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football beginning in 2013-14.
