Salem State Selected to Repeat as 2014 MASCAC Baseball Conference Champions
The Vikings of Salem State University are the pre-season pick to win the 2014 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball championship in a vote of the league’s coaches.
WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The Vikings of Salem State University are the pre-season pick to win the 2014 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball championship in a vote of the league's coaches.
After winning the regular season and tournament crowns last year, the Vikings look to repeat with the return of 2013 MASCAC Rookie of the Year Richard Fecteau and under the helm of 2013 MASCAC Coach of the Year Mike Ward. Salem State claimed seven first place votes to amass 63 points in taking the top spot in the poll.
Framingham State came in second with 48 points while Bridgewater State nabbed the final first place vote to place them third in the poll with 45 points. Westfield State comes in just behind Bridgewater State in fourth with 44 points.
Worcester State nabbed the fifth spot with 35 points while Massachusetts Maritime landed in sixth with 23 points. Fitchburg State and MCLA round out this year's coaches poll in seventh and eighth place, respectively, with 20 and 10 points.
