Fitchburg State University has named Keith Brouillard as the tenth head coach in the history of the baseball program. The announcement was made by Sue Lauder, Director of Athletics at the University.
“I am pleased to name Keith Brouillard as the head baseball coach at Fitchburg State University,” said Lauder. “Keith’s baseball background, both as a player and as a coach, have prepared him well for this opportunity.”
“I am thrilled for this amazing opportunity,” said Brouillard. “For the past four years, I have been fortunate enough to work closely with this team and I am very excited to bring Fitchburg State baseball back to where it belongs.”
Brouillard takes over the reigns as head baseball coach at Fitchburg State after serving the past four years as the Associate Director of Athletics at the University. He joined Fitchburg State staff in2008 after completing a four-year career with NCAA Division II powerhouse, Franklin Pierce University.
This announcement comes after the recent resignation of former head coach, Todd Lynch. Lynch served the past five seasons as the Falcons head baseball coach, compiling an overall record of 69-105 (.397 pct).
Brouillard, a four-year member of the Franklin Pierce, NCAA Division II College World Series baseball team, was an All-Region and All-Conference pitcher for the Ravens from 2003-2005. In a strong 2004 season, Brouillard became the first pitcher in program history to open a season 8-0, while establishing records for consecutive shutout innings (17.2 IP) as well as consecutive innings without yielding an earned run (36.1 IP).
During his time, he ranked among single-season leaders at the University with a 2.37 ERA (3rd), eight wins (4th), 83.2 innings (6th), 13 appearances (6th) and five complete games (8th). For his efforts, he was inducted into the Franklin Pierce University Hall of Fame during the spring of 2011.
Off the field, Brouillard has served the past five years as lead instructor and head coach at RBI Academy in Foxboro, Massachusetts. Focusing on hitting, pitching and fielding development, Keith has played a vital role on the RBI staff, promoting player development both through its competitive AAU program and highly decorated camps, including the Dustin Pedroia Summer Camp and the Nomar Garciaparra Advanced Hitting Clinic.
In addition to his duties as the Associate Director of Athletics and Sports Information Director, Brouillard will assume all head coaching duties effectively immediately.
