Bridgewater State Men, Westfield State Women Selected to Win 2025 MASCAC Outdoor Track and Field Titles
Last season’s outdoor champions Bridgewater State men and Westfield State women have been selected by the coaches from around the conference to claim the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field titles during the 2025 campaign.

Westfield, Mass.— Last season’s outdoor champions Bridgewater State men and Westfield State women have been selected by the coaches from around the conference to claim the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field titles during the 2025 campaign.
On the men’s side, Bridgewater State claimed four first place votes in this year’s poll. During the 2024 MASCAC Championship, the Bears claimed 11 individual titles and two relays on the day. Kevin McBirney was a two-time champion in both the 800 (1:57.81) and 1,500 (4:07.74).
Westfield State is up next in the poll in second place with the final first place vote. They finished second at last year’s championship. Returning is Nathan Sylven who crossed the line first in both the 3,000m steeplechase (10:09.96) and 5,000m run (16:06.17) at last year’s championship.
Sitting in third is Worcester State. Returning for the Lancers is Brodie Jacques who was the champion in the 200m dash with a season-best time of 22.10 at the 2024 championship.
Fitchburg State nabbed the fourth spot in this year’s poll. Last season, the Falcons grabbed three individual crowns. Liam Bourassa took home a MASCAC individual title after he had a top heave in the javelin of 63.07m.
Rounding out the men’s poll in fifth is Massachusetts Maritime. During the 2024 Championship, Liam Higgins came in second for the Buccaneers in the javelin throw with a top distance of 62.09m.
On the women’s side with four first place votes, Westfield State earned the top spot in the poll. The Owls took home the 2024 championship with six individual champs and all three relay crowns. Leading the way was Eliza Lee who had two individual titles in the 800 meter run (2:30.87) and triple jump (11.20m).
Bridgewater State earns the final two first place votes. The Bears finished with nine individual champions on the day. Jailene Escalera and Naomi Cass were both dual winners for the Bears on the day. Escalera came in first in both the 100 (12.19) and 200 (25.32) while Cass crossed the line first in the 1,500 (4:49.27) and 5,000 (18:04.76).
Worcester State comes in next on the poll in third. The Lancers had a solid showing at the 2024 championship on the field side with two individual titles. Ciara Adu-Addo had a season-best leap of 5.50m in the long jump to grab the crown. Jadah Stokes also had a season best mark on Friday in the shot put with a top heave of 11.82m.
Framingham State lands in fourth in this year’s poll. Competing at her first MASCAC Outdoor meet in 2024, Jamie Moniz of Framingham State crossed the line first in the 400m hurdles with a personal best time of 1:10.35.
Closing out the women’s poll in fifth and sixth are Fitchburg State and Massachusetts Maritime. At the 2024 MASCAC Championship, Skye Goba set a personal best time of 41:00.83 in the 10,000m for second place in the event, while also placing eighth in the 5000m with a time of 20:35. For the Buccaneers, Sydney Sawyer set a personal best last season at the Corsair Classic in the discus with a top throw of 26.88m.
The outdoor season has begun and culminates on April 25 with the 2025 MASCAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship hosted by Bridgewater State.
