Dr. Christopher Stankovich, a world-renowned sport psychologist and expert on athletic counseling, was a guest of the Massachusetts Maritime Department of Athletics on Monday evening for a presentation to Buccaneer student-athletes and staff entitled “Reach Your Full Potential:  Sports Science Training For Maximum Productivity”.

Dr. Stankovich’s appearance on campus was made possible through the NCAA Division III Strategic Initiatives Grant Program, and he was welcomed by Academy Director of Athletics Garin Veris for Monday’s presentation as well as a special roundtable with faculty, staff and other guests earlier in the day.  During and following his presentation, Dr. Stankovich engaged in question-and-answer sessions with the cadets while offering perspectives on maximizing full potential and productivity in all aspects of life.

Known as “The Sports Doc”, Dr. Stankovich is the founder of Advanced Human Performance Systems, an athletic counseling and human performance enhancement center in Columbus, Ohio.  He is the author of five books and has had hundreds of articles published on topics related to sport psychology and athletic success that were featured in USA Today, The New York Post, The Washington Post, Street & Smith Sports Business Journal and The San Francisco Chronicle.  Additionally, Dr. Stankovich has appeared on ESPN and ABC World News Tonight to discuss sport psychology and athletic performance issues.

In addition to his duties at his practice, Dr. Stankovich has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses in psychology, education and business at several Ohio institutions, including The Ohio State University and the University of Dayton.
