MASCAC Volleyball Weekly Awards 10/9
After guiding their teams to conference match wins, the Westfield State duo of Sarah Bingham and Lauren Carnes plus Salem State's Kailey Roche are the MASCAC Offensive, Rookie and Defensive Player of the Week honorees.
Offensive Player of the Week |
Bingham totaled 24 kills, eight service aces, six digs and four blocks in a 2-0 week for the Owls. Led the Owls with 14 kills, four service aces, three solo blocks and a .367 hitting percentage as part of a four-set conference win over Framingham State to move Westfield to 2-0 in the league. Posted the second-most kills for the team with 10 plus four aces and two digs in a non-conference win over Elms College earlier in the week. |
Defensive Player of the Week |
Roche collected 46 digs, seven service aces and four assists in a 1-1 week for the Vikings. Had a match-high 26 digs with four aces and a pair of assists for the Vikings in their five set win over Bridgewater State and added 20 digs and three aces in a 3-0 setback to Colby Sawyer. |
Rookie of the Week |
Carnes led the Owls with 26 kills across a two-game stretch this week as the Owls went 2-0 with victories over Framingham State and Elms College. Recorded a team-high 15 kills and chipped in 11 digs in a four-set win over Elms on Tuesday night, then added 11 kills in a road victory over Framingham on Friday. |
