Westfield, Mass. —  Bridgette McAndrews of Westfield State and Camryn Burgio of Worcester State take home the 2023 MASCAC Player and Defensive Player of the Year honors. The duo headlines the 2023 All-Conference team which is selected by the eight coaches from around the conference. 

 

McAndrews, a senior outside hitter from Longmeadow, Mass., earns the 2023 MASCAC Player of the Year after leading the Owls to the league’s regular season title and the top seed in the tournament. She registered 266 total kills (2.63 per set), 358 digs (3.54 per set), 13 total blocks and 32 service aces. Her kills and digs were in the top five of the league to end the season. In their conference-opening win over MCLA, she finished with 17 kills, 22 digs, three aces and a block assist in the five set win to earn MASCAC weekly honors. This is the third straight All-Conference accolade for McAndrews after earning it in 2021 and 2022. 

 

Outside hitter Camryn Burgio of Worcester State repeats as the MASCAC Defensive Player of the Year award winner. The graduate student from Quincy, Mass. led the MASCAC in total digs with 537 and digs per set with 5.26. She was also fourth in the conference in service aces with 54 while adding 73 assists and 34 kills on the year. With this year’s All-Conference honors, Burgio now has been named to the team two consecutive years.     

 

Claiming the 2023 MASCAC Rookie of the Year honors is Natalie Reynolds of Framingham State. The freshman from Beverly, Mass. in her first season with the Rams slammed home 282 kills (2.54 per set) with a .302 hitting percentage, 59 total blocks (22 solo) and 43 service aces which all are in the top 10 of the MASCAC. She also collected 105 digs this season. Reynolds was named MASCAC Rookie of the Week five times this season and earns her first MASCAC All-Conference honor. 

 

After earning the honor most recently in 2019, Fred Glanville of Westfield State has been voted the BSN Sports Volleyball Coach of the Year after leading the Owls to the MASCAC Regular Season title and the top seed in the MASCAC Tournament. This is Glanville’s eighth time being awarded the top coaching accolade.

 

Joining McAndrews and Burgio on the All-Conference First Team are Hailey Sanders and Anna Szymanski of Framingham State, Anais Badio of MCLA, Julia Bartiet of Westfield State and Angela Colonis of Worcester State.

 

Earning a spot on the MASCAC Second Team All-Conference with Reynolds are Stephanie Sardella of Fitchburg State, Stella Bailey of Framingham State, Elizabeth Brown and Chloie Garber of MCLA, Julia Dangel-Garcia of Westfield State and Maeve Cadogan of Worcester State.
