Framingham State Nabs Top Seed in 2022 MASCAC Volleyball Tournament
After earning a share of the MASCAC Volleyball Regular Season title, Framingham State nabbed the top seed in the 2022 MASCAC Volleyball Tournament which starts Tuesday, November 1.

Starting off the tournament is the quarterfinal matchups on Nov. 1. Up first #3 MCLA and #6 Fitchburg State face off at 6 pm then #4 Worcester State and #5 Bridgewater State meet at 7. In the semifinal round, #2 Westfield State hosts the winner of MCLA/Fitchburg State while #1 Framingham State entertains the winner of Worcester State/Bridgewater State.
The semifinal winners will then meet on Saturday, Nov. 5 at a time to be determined for the MASCAC Tourament Championship with the winner moving on to the NCAA Tournament.
At the top of the seedings are the Rams, who finished 6-1 in the MASCAC to take home a share of the regular season title. The team is led by Anna Szymanski who is first in kills per set with 3.39 and total kills at 342. She also collected 269 digs, 11 total blocks, 18 service aces and 24 assists during the 2022 regular season.
Earning the other first round bye is Westfield State with the second seed. The Owls also were 6-1 to take home the other share of the MASCAC Regular Season crown. In her first year with the team, libero Allie Hill finished out the regular season third in the MASCAC in total digs with 295 and digs per set at 3.93 along with 39 service aces and 35 assists.
Coming in the third spot is MCLA with a 5-2 mark in league play. 2021 MASCAC Rookie of the Year Chloie Garber registered the second-most kills with 272 and kills per set at 3.36. She also registered 261 digs, 17 total blocks, 61 aces and 29 assists.
Worcester State earned the fourth seed in this year's tournament after finishing 4-3 during conference play. This season Camryn Burgio led the MASCAC in digs at 425 with 4.29 per set, 17 total blocks, 135 kills, 42 assists and 36 aces.
The final two seeds of the 2022 tournament field are Bridgewater State and Fitchburg State with the fifth and sixth seed. The Bears were 3-4 and Falcons 2-5 at the end of league action. Kim Gowell finished the first season with 117 kills, 47 digs, 15 total blocks, 21 aces and four assists. For the Falcons, freshman Stephanie Sardella is fourth in the MASCAC in kills per set at 2.46 while adding 165 total kills, 226 digs, 33 aces, 12 total blocks and seven assists.
During the 2021 MASCAC Volleyball Tournament, third seed Framingham State upset top seed Worcester State in five sets to win the tournament title and a ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
