Westfield State Picked to Win Third Straight MASCAC Women’s Cross Country Crown
Westfield State has been picked by the seven coaches in the league to win their third straight MASCAC Women’s Cross Country Championship.

Westfield, Mass.— Westfield State has been picked by the seven coaches in the league to win their third straight MASCAC Women's Cross Country Championship.
The Owls had six first place votes for 36 points to earn the top spot. Mia McDonald looks to repeat her success from 2021 this season after finishing in a time of 20:40 for fourth place and All-Conference accolades.
Earning the other first place vote is Bridgewater State in second with 27 points. At the 2021 meet, Julie Glavin came across in second place in a time of 20:21 to help the Bears to a second place finish.
Worcester State is up next in third with 26 points. Erica Hanlon made it across the line in 10th with a time of 21:15 to see the duo earn a spot on the 2021 All-Conference team.
Landing in fourth is Fitchburg State with 22 points. Abby Murphy is back for the Falcons after she came in sixth with a 5k time of 20:55 during the 2021 championship.
Sitting in fifth place is Framingham State with 17 points. Elizabeth Dykstra was the top finisher for the Rams in 2021, finishing in 11th place with a time of 21:15.
Closing out the 2022 preseason poll are Massachusetts Maritime and MCLA in sixth and seventh with 12 points and seven points, respectively. For the Buccaneers, they will look to Alyssa Greico this season. She finished the 2021 MASCAC Championship course in a time of 23:39. For the Trailblazers, Domenica Gomez is back after covering the 5k course in 2021 with a time of 31:11.
Over the next few weeks, the seven MASCAC women's cross country teams will begin their season culminating with the MASCAC Championship on October 29.
