MASCAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Weekly Awards 1/16
After the first meet of 2024, the Bridgewater State duo of Alison McDonough and Serenity Sands along with Devin Whalen of Westfield State take home the MASCAC Women's Indoor Track and Field weekly awards.
Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week |
McDonough captured top honors in the 60-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 8.81 seconds this past weekend at the Lyons Invitational hosted by Wheaton College. Also broke the school record (along with teammate Jailene Escalera) in the 60-meter dash and tied for first place in the event with a time of 7.77 seconds. Added another first-place performance in the long jump with a leap of 5.25m. Currently ranks third in all of Division III in the hurdles and tied for 20th in the 60. She is also first in the East Region in the hurdles and tied for second in the 60. |

Sands captured top honors in the high jump with a leap of 1.61m this past weekend at the Lyon Invitational hosted by Wheaton College. Also finished fifth and equaled her personal-best in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.77 seconds. |
Women's Indoor Rookie of the Week |
Whalen won the 55 hurdles in a personal best time of 9.60 seconds, placed third in the 200 in 29.04, and sixth in the 55 meter dash in 7.90 at the Coast Guard Invitational. |
