Five MASCAC Student-Athletes Qualify for the NCAA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship
Bridgewater State's Jayci Andrews, Abbi Peterson, Serenity Sands, Westfield State's Amy O'Sullivan and Worcester State's Riley Sanderson will be competing at the 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships this weekend.

The national championship meet will be held May 26-28 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio with the University of Mount Union serving as the host.
Andrews qualified in two events as she is seeded seventh in the 100-meter hurdles and 12th in the 400-meter hurdles. Andrews posted her qualifying time of 14.10 seconds in the 100 hurdles at the Division III New England Championships hosted by Williams College on May 7th, and notched her qualifying time of 1:02.25 in the 400 hurdles on May 14 at the NEICAAA Championships held at Bryant University.
Peterson is seeded fourth in the high jump. She recorded her qualifying and BSU school-record leap of five feet, 7.25 inches (1.71m) on March 26th at the season-opening BSU Bears Invitational.
Sands is also competing in the high jump as she is seeded 21st in the event. Sands notched her qualifying mark of five feet, 5.75 inches (1.67m) on April 2nd at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic.
O'Sullivan is seeded 17th among the accepted entries in the 22-competitor event event, based on her school-record time of 35:58.47 she set on May 5 at the New England Division III championships. She is part of a tightly packed field in which just seventy seconds separates the 6 through 22 seeds in the event. The top eight finishers in the event will be awarded All-America status.
Sanderson qualified for her first outdoor track and field championship in the javelin. The senior from Leominster, Mass. got her top mark of the year during the MASCAC Championship on April 30 with a throw of 42.66m which won her the MASCAC title. Going into Saturday, she will be the 12th seed.
